Through the Federal Internship for Newcomers program (FIN), candidates are hired as temporary employees and gain experience in:

(1) Understanding job application and hiring processes.
(2) Canadian workplace culture.
Networking with professionals
Attending training sessions.

(3)Each participant is matched with a public service mentor.

Eligibility:

To apply for the FIN Program you must have a post-secondary degree, except for some administrative positions where it may not be necessary.

(1) Must have been a permanent resident or a Canadian citizen for a period of ten years or less counting from the day he became a permanent resident to the day he apply.

Language Skills Requirements.

The federal internship for newcomers program candidates must prove that they have the necessary language Skills in English or French.

You may be required to show diplomas, transcripts, or certificates from a recognised post-secondary institution to prove your English or French language Skills. Your institution may be in Canada or abroad.

Additionally, your documents must prove that you successfully graduated or completed a program in English or in French languages.

Your documents must be written in English or French language, otherwise you should include a translation of the original document.

If you have taken some courses in English or French, that alone may not be accepted as proof of language.

1. Canadian Language Benchmark: Score must be 7 or more in each competency in either English or French.

2. Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program: CELPIP-G 7

3. International English Language Testing System: IELTS 6

Only scores obtained on or after May, 2020, in these tests will be considered.

If you were placed as an intern in one program year, you can re-apply on the following basis.

1. Still meet the core eligibility criteria
2. Have active and up to date files with an IS
3. Inform your ISO of your intent to apply before the registration deadline.
